SPECTRUM is a political magazine written by the Indian youth; for the nation. It is the voice of young India. We are all from the Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai, studying in standard 10 and cannot exercise our franchise. We however certainly have an opinion on the political spectrum of India; we have questions which as the youth of today and the future leaders of India we seek answers to. There are a number of political magazines available, but this magazine is different. It aims at bringing awareness among the youth while at same time SPECTRUM acts as the older generations mirror to our minds.

SPECTRUM is a quarterly magazine, supported by our school. It is free of cost as Spectrum is not only a magazine but a campaign. We aim to bring about change and awareness, by being critical yet optimistic.

The first issue of SPECTRUM was on the general elections and the SPECTRUM team interviewed visionary, young leaders like Mr. Omar Abdullah, Mr. Jyotiradtya Scindia; as well as some respected, experienced figures like Mr. Arun Jaitely, Mr. Vahanvati and put forth questions which arise in the minds of the youth. In the second issue Education was our cover story and we interviewed Mr.Kapil Sibal, Mr. Vishwajit Rane, Mrs.Supriya Sule and Mr.D Shivanandhan. In our third issue which has been released a week before the Copenhagen summit, Climate Change is our Cover story. For this issue the SPECTRUM team has interviewed Dr. R K Pachauri, Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Mr. Jaswant Singh and Mr.Milind Deora.

Two months ago, I thought about the possibility of starting a political magazine expressing the youth's views, in Alibaug while watching T.V... At that time it was just an idea, a distant dream. Over the past two months this idea has evolved, and the enthusiasm that I saw in people made me believe it was possible. Today after two months and after the Spectrum team having spent at least 8 hours together every week and an exhausting 14 hour trip to Delhi, which included 4 interviews, we have the first copy of Spectrum in front of us. We had a deadline and we never had time on our side, but publishing the first copy of SPECTRUM before elections was our aim. Spectrum to me is not only a magazine but a campaign to bring about change and awareness, by being critical yet optimistic. Change your perspective; if you believe that that one vote will not make the difference, think again because each one of you thinks in the same way. Thanks

Spectrum went from being an ambitious idea to reality in less then two months. It expresses our sentiments to the nation. Till some months ago I myself thought that our whole political system is corrupt and nothing can be done about it. Then a pretty obvious thought struck me. "I am the future of India. If I cannot bring about change, then who can". With this thought the youth of India need to move forward and take our nation to greater heights. I feel the need for me to express myself and get my voice heard. Spectrum gave me that opportunity.

Among the youth, a drastic change in attitude occurred after the 26/11, even amongst the ignorant and oblivious, who now wanted their voices to be heard. Usually this is done through one's vote, however, inability to exercise the franchise drowned many ambitions and aspirations. We looked for alternate ways of communicating our views, and thats when the idea of Spectrum arose. I hope spectrum serves as an inspiration for the rest of India's youth. Trust me, never let your ideas sink. Don't fear its success. Honestly, we ourselves cannot foresee the fate of Spectrum's success, but it is the initiative that counts. We are the future of this nation and only our active participation can mould this nation into something we can all be proud of! Thank you.

This magazine has been designed to create awareness among the masses by writing articles from the point of view of the youth of the nation. India is making its impression all over the globe today and we feel that as the youth and the leaders of tomorrow it is our duty to put forth our views and our expectations of our politicians and that is exactly why we have decided to start this magazine. This magazine is not our interpretation of Indian politics it is a mirror to the youth's feelings, aspirations and their demand of a better governance. JAI HIND

Spectrum is a magazine reflecting the opinions and thoughts of the Youth about our Nation. India is a democracy, and we should take pride in our democracy. I think that we as the youth can, the least we can do is change our mindset. I believe that change is possible. I believe that we can change India. I believe in India.

Spectrum is different from any other magazine. It aims to create awareness and interest in the political spectrum of India. It gives older generations the opportunity to understand the opinions of young India on important issues facing the nation. It also makes clear what we, the Youth of this country think is wrong with our political setup and what we can do to improve it. It is imperative that we as the future of the country speak up as the future leaders of the Nation.

Spectrum represents the youth's desire for change; we want to express our vision for India and our views on politics in India. The least we can do for our country is make an informed decision while choosing our representatives. We want to give the youth in our country the chance to speak about any thing they feel strongly about.

Spectrum is a magazine containing an untainted perspective of our countries current affairs. We all thought it was a unique way of telling everybody the youth's opinion. A lot of hard work has gone into this so we hope that you enjoy reading this.
